The former St. Croix River Light was located on St. Croix Island (Dochet Island) on the US side of St. Croix River, just below Calais, Maine. It was built by Capt. W.B.Franklin in 1857, updated in 1901, automated in 1957, and burned down in 1976. Only the boathouse remained. The replacement light is mounted on a steel skeleton tower. The light tower is built into the corner of the keeper's house. To the left at a little distance is another smaller frame building. A white rail fence leads from the main dwelling down toward the shore to the left where a boathouse with a boat ramp to the water is seen. At the right of the lighthouse there is a frame with a bell.
