Conductor Pat Shaw, standing on the platform of Coach No. 11 is speaking with Station Agent Gertrude Higgins (known affectionately as Mrs. Agent) at Throndike, Maine. Gertrude was one of the few female railroad employees in the state. This is one of a series of photographs staged to be used for an article in Life Magazine in 1950.
