Spencer Bay Club, Moosehead Lake, Maine A11C
Image of a simple lakeside camp, with a view of a mountain in the distance. A large cruising motorboat and a couple of smaller craft are pulled up on shore. Spencer Bay, the location of several sporting camps by the mid-20th century, is a major eastern arm of Moosehead Lake, known for its pristine remotenes, beauty, and recreational appeal - particularly fishing. The mountain in the image is probably Mt. Kineo. The image shows cracking, due to emulsion shrinkage on the negative's acetate. A note on the negative sleeve reads: "Original owned by Amory Houghton, Moosehead Lake, Greenville, Maine Winter address: Belfast, Maine"
