A view of L.E. Fletcher's store in Cape Porpoise, Maine. The store is a house like building with period advertising signs in front. A Socony gas pump is in front. The store was constructed by Lumen E. Fletcher in 1893 to take advantage of a growing tourist industry at Cape Porpoise. Fletcher's store housed a post office, a Variety Store and an ice cream parlor. When the trolly tracks were laid to the pier, Luman made arrangements to sell trolley tickets. He hired photographers to take picture of Cape Porpoise views for postcards to sell and he also sold the Kennebunkport summer newspaper. The building is currently (2023) home to Bradbury Brothers Market. The Wave. Source: Kennebunkport Historical Society
