This is probably the Mechanics' Hollow section of Main Street -- the industrial part of Searsport. A huge pile of wood ready for milling lies in the foreground in front of a shop marked "Builders Hardware Paints & xxx". A residential area of early and mid-19th century houses climbs the hill beyond. A woman in a long dark coat moves along the roadside, while a child can be seen making his way up the hill on the wooden sidewalk. The image is a particularly vivid view of the townscape here around the turn of the 20th century.
