This picture is from 1910 aboard the schooner MARTHA E. Tom WIley is at the helm with Eugene McLain, the boat's builder and owner, in the foreground. She was the only schooner ever built on Long Island in Bremen, Maine. Eugene McLain drowned in the bay the next year, while attemtping to anchor MARTHA E. She was named for his wife, Martha E. Carter McLain.
