Owls Head Light, Maine, was built in 1826 at the end of a high of land point at the southern entrance to Penobscot Bay. The 30-foot-tall cylindrical brick tower on a granite foundation tower was rebuilt in 1852, and restored in 2010. It has one of the last six Fresnel lenses in operation in Maine. Owl's Head light was automated in 1989. In this view from seaward, the light is seen above the tree line with the keepers house set back to the left and detached from the lighthouse. A black can buoy is visible in the water. The grounds are open to the public as part of Owls Head Light State Park.
