Burnt Coat Harbor Light is located at the end of Hockamock Point, a peninsula extending south from the center of Swan's Island, Maine. It marks the entrance to Swan's Island Harbor to the east and Toothacher Bay to the west. It was built by General J.C. Duane in 1872, and automated in 1975. In this view of the end of the peninsula the lighthouse along with its dwelling and a bell tower are isolated from the settlement. A long covered walkway extends between the house and the bell tower. The keeper's house is a full two stories with a long porch. In the distance sailing schooners make the passage between the island and the main land. For a closer in veiw, see LB2015.12.22
