Avery Rock Light was a lighthouse on a rocky islet at the entrance to Machias Bay, Maine. Built in 1875 by Gen. J.C.Duane, it was automated in 1926. Unrepairable storm damage led to demolition in 1947. It was replaced by a small steel skeleton structure. The light has a square first story keeper's dwelling with a sturdy center tower above, topped with a conical shaped light. A fog horn tower sits very close to the main structure. Two people are standing just outside the lighthouse and a two masted schooner sails in the distance. See also LB2015.15.28 & 29
