Main Street - Stonington. Maine 40. "Eaton's"

"Main Street - Stonington. Maine 40. "Eaton's"" Image of Stonington's unpaved Main Street where it bends between the shops on the harborside of the street, and the houses and granite ledges of the north side. A two-story frame building with a Mansard roof stands at the bend. Three men are posed on the wooden sidewalk at the right. Behind the Mansard-roofed house is a three-story frame building built out over the water. It bears a sign reading "5 and 10 Cent," and presumably is Otis Eaton's store. He is said to have sold grain from a sloop located behind the shop. On the wharf behind is a derrick and piles of timber. A bit of Green Head can be seen in the distance.
