The view looks east toward the bend in Stonington's crooked Main Street, where Dr. Benjamin Lake Noyes' grand house, built in 1906, looms over the scene. As well as being a physician, Dr. Noyes, born in 1870, was an avid antiquarian and archivist who amassed a huge archive of genealogical and historical materials on the families of Deer Isle, Maine. He compiled the 43-volume "General History of Families of Deer Isle, Maine" before his death in 1945. [n.f.
