Grounded out Friendship Sloop

A Friendship Sloop * (aka a Maine Sloop Boat) grounded out on the beach at Center Harbor, against a wharf, with the clam factory buildings in the left background. Her throat halyard, made off to a granite block onshore, keeps her from falling over. Her cradle built from spruce poles and weighted down with beach stones is lying astern in the distance. A schooner yacht lies to at a mooring in the distant far right. (Not sure if this is in Brooklin, Maine as the factory buildings look too large) - Maynard Bray 2024* The Friendship sloop, also known as a Muscongus Bay sloop or lobster sloop, is a gaff-rigged working boat design that originated in Friendship, Maine around 1880 and has survived as a traditional-style sailboat.The Parson home (which no longer exists) is seen in the distance just above the stern of the sloop.
