Chatto Island, Viewed from Parson's Property, Haven Colony

Chatto Island, viewed here from Parson's property, Haven Colony, is at the entrance to Center Harbor and provides sanctuary to a fleet of mostly sailboats, many designed by Herreshoff and many built by Brooklin Boat Yard. The island is also an easy rowing destination, a place for nature exploration, and a memorable picnic and swimming spot. Chatto features granite shores and gravel beaches, a spruce-fir forest interspersed with a few hardwoods. Seen in this view is a Friendship Sloop under power towing a scow piled high with what looks to be sand.
