Rocky area at the west end of Chatto Island, Brooklin, Maine. Chatto Island is at the entrance to Center Harbor and provides sanctuary to a fleet of mostly sailboats, many designed by Herreshoff and many built by Brooklin Boat Yard. The island is also an easy rowing destination, a place for nature exploration, and a memorable picnic and swimming spot. Chatto features granite shores and gravel beaches, a spruce-fir forest interspersed with a few hardwoods.
