Capstan: painted black On top of capstan: "Hyde Windlass/ Bath Maine" On base of capstan: "2". When contacted by intern Jonathan Olly donor Richard Spear refused to state when, where, or how he acquired the capstan. He did offer that it was likely never on a ship and "isn't that old". It was probably made just prior to when Bath Iron Works reacquired the Hyde Windlass Company in the 1960s. This capstan does not appear to be previously in the database so was entered in 9/2007.
