Bosun's Whistle:

5 1/2 x 7/8" boatswain's pipe. Object also referred to as a "bo's'n call." A boatswain's call, pipe or bosun's whistle is a pipe or a non-diaphragm type whistle used on naval ships by a boatswain. Donated by David Kane, first curator of the Penobscot Marine Museum. David Kane was born in Searsport, in the late 1800's, went to sea, played the banjo and sang sea chanties. He lived on Leach Street. In later years, Mr. Kane spent the winters at Sailor's Snug Harbor in New York. Capt.
