Textile, clothing: Embroidered silk shawl
Captain David Weed of Rockland brought back this silk shawl from China in the 1890s. It was a present to his wife Ada Rogers Weed. The ivory silk is hand embroidered with flowers and butterflies, a motif associated with youth. The fringe is hand knotted in a decorative pattern.
