Velvet crazy quilt
Textile, bedding: crazy quilt, velvet Hand-stitched, elaborate and varied embroidery stitches made by the Ladies Aid or Ladies Group of the Searsport Methodist Church about 1908-09. The squares were presented to Mrs. Harry R. Hill when she left Searsport just before her daughter, Marjorie, was born. Marjorie was born 4/1/1910. The squares were sewed into the final quilt by the South Brooksville Maine Methodist Church Women about 1973 or 1974. The quilt was presented to the Women's group by Marjorie Sears Hill Fredrick (daughter of Mrs. Harry R. Hill) on 3/16/1983. See object file for more history on the Hill family. Note: Museum must return this quilt to the Methodist Church if they should desire to sell it.
