Deck log kept by Dale B. Whittaker as a teenaged seaman on the motor yacht SCOUT over the winter of 1946-1947. The log covers the trip south from Bath to Miami and the winter spent in Florida. The bulk of the entries deal with Whittaker's daily tasks washing, painting, varnishing, and polishing the yacht. He also mentions happenings underway, the activities of the yacht's owners, larger repairs undertaken in Elizabeth City and Miami, and his own days off.
