Journal written by Alice G. Drinkwater aboard the bark GRACE DEERING on a voyage from New York to Newcastle, Australia and Singapore in 1898 and 1899. Written while at sea as a captain’s wife. Includes comments on her hobby of photography, as well as observations of life at sea and stops in port. Drinkwater's entries are descriptive, primarily focused on her observations of the ports of Brisbane, Newcastle, and Singapore, as well as places passed along the voyage, like Angier, Indonesia, and St. Helena.
