Abstract Log of the bark C.D. BRYANT
Abstract log kept by Captain Jasper N. Nichols for voyages aboard the bark C.D. BRYANT, 1879-1881. While at sea, Nichols recorded the course steered, position, distance sailed, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, the temperature of the air and water, compass deviation, and remarks on weather and sea state for every day of the voyage. In port, Nichols recorded brief remarks on loading and unloading cargo, missing parcels, and freights secured for the next port. The book covers consecutive voyages from Cardiff to Montevideo, Calcutta, New York, Sydney, and part of Nichols's final voyage to Hong Kong.
