Searsport Steamboat Wharf
The Eastern Steamship Wharf at the foot of Steamboat Avenue, Searsport, Maine. Steamboat passengers could disembark and walk to the Searsport House on Main Street where they could enjoy the area and its lobsters and clams. In the 1920s passenger service was reduced from twicee daily to twice weekly and finally discontinued. During World War II a unit of the Army Transpoortation Corps supervised a munitions depot at the point and ammunition was shipped to the European theater.
