Steamboat NORUMBEGA

The 146 ft. steamer NORUMBEGA was one of the Maine Central Railroad fleet that ran to , Mount Desert Island from Rockland, Maine, for 20 years. She was built in 1902 at Bath She is remembered for a grounding on Clark's Point at Southwest Harbor in August 1912. In 1932 she was working for the Bay State Steamship Co. on the route from Boston to the Nantasket Beach, MA amusement park. A 1934 fire at Quincy, MA ended her life.
