Steamboat J. T. MORSE

The big wooden steamboat J. T. MORSE was in a collision September 8, 1915 with the large steel ship PEMAQUID. This photo shows damage on MORSE"S port side. It happened near Moose Island off Stonington, Maine. Both vessels were repaired and returned to service. J. T. MORSE.was part of the Eastern Steamship Co. and named for its treasurer, James Thomas Morse of Bath. She was built at East Boston in 1903. Her route from 1904 to 1931 was Rockland to Bar Harbor with many stops along the way. In 1933 she was sold to a New York company.
