Steamboat CIMBRIA
The steamboat CIMBRIA ran from Bangor to Bar Harbor and Belfast and was built in 1882 at Barbour Shipyard, Brewer. She was said to be "of extraordinary fair repute and popular to the end of her days." After a grounding in fog in the 1890's on a Mt. Desert point, she was rescued, lengthened, and modernized. Railroad competition forced her from the Bangor-Bar Harbor run, and in 1915 she was in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In 1920 she was registered in Chicago, but the register of 1922 noted: "CIMBRIA 1882, Brewer, abandoned."
