These were fishing schooners originating in Gloucester, MA. She is a knockabout (no bowsprit). Following Captain Jim Sharp's ownership and operation of ADVENTURE out of Camden, ME as a windjammer/ passenger schooner for over two decades, Sharp donated her to the city of Gloucester, where she was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and declared a National Landmark in 1994. A non-profit, Gloucester Adventure, Inc.was formed at the time of the donation, and persists today [2016] as the entity dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the vessel as an embodiment of local maritime history.
