The steamship SAGADAHOC tied up at the dock and one other vessel near the bank at the edge of town. The ferry STAR OF THE EAST was built in New York in 1865 and put on the Gardiner, Maine to Boston run, making two trips weekly. It was rebuilt in 1891, when it was renamed SAGADAHOC. It continued to operate until 1902.
