From collection J. E. Perkins Collection
Untitled
Image of a portrait photograph of a man, made as a copy negative by J. E. Perkins. Visible in image: A portrait of a man with thin white hair, wearing a coat, vest, white shirt with a low standing collar, and a cravat or a four-in-hand necktie tied in a pointy bow. The style of collar and neckwear suggest that the original portrait was made in the 1840s or 1850s. The portrait has been tacked to a wall to be rephotographed. The blank frame around the man's head is actually a black paper frame with gold decoration that has been glued to the glass copy negative. Caption on negative sleeve/reverse of print: "014A Scrooge 11" on the negative sleeve in pen, in a more modern hand than most original Perkins negative sleeve notations. The identity of the man in the portrait is not currently known.
