S.S. M & M - ELDORADO

Image of the Popham Beach Steamboat Company steamboat ELDORADO and the Bath-to-Boothbay steamboat M. & M. at City Landing in Bath. Visible in image: ELDORADO and M. & M. moored at City Landing. A large banner advertises service from Bath to Boothbay and the islands aboard M. & M. of the "Bath, Boothbay and Seguinland Line." Another sign to the right advertises Knickerbocker Steam Towage. A number of small boats are visible tied to the float next to M. & M., including a dory and a peapod, both rigged to sail, and a skiff with a man and two women under an umbrella. The bow of a larger working vessel, perhaps a fishing boat, is visible behind the Knickerbocker sign. There are two horse-drawn freight wagons, one being a half-bed with a drop rear axle. A third horse is just entering the frame to the left. Two workmen stand near a drain pipe and dirt piles, other men walk toward and work around ELDORADO, a couple strolls the deck of M. & M., and two men and a boy wait at some sort of call or notice box under the Knickerbocker sign. Cataloger's note: This object is a copy negative of a print of a photograph by James E. Perkins. The original negative plate is cataloged as LB2009.13.184. The identity of the copyist and the date on which the copy was made are not certain.
