Riverside cottages after storm
Image of cottages along the Kennebec River in Popham, Maine, showing the sand dunes eroded by storm waves. Visible in image: Surf from a storm has washed away the sand dunes fronting cottages along Popham village's Kennebec shore, leaving very little margin between them and the river. The cottages' windows are shuttered up for the weather, and possibly for the winter. The view looks up the Kennebec; the heights of land beyond the cottages is Cox's Head in Phippsburg, and the mass across the river from it is Gilbert Head on Long Island in Georgetown.
