Phippsburg Ctr. from river
Image of Phippsburg Center. Visible in image: Phippsburg Center seen from the Kennebec River. At far left: the Bowker shipyard with the ribs of one vessel on the ways and a three-masted schooner, possibly PERSIS L. COLWELL, in the water. The large building next to the Bowker yard is the Phippsburg ice house; the white building with four chimneys next to the ice house is the Spite House, currently located in Rockland, Maine. Just to the left of the Spite House are the ways of the Minott shipyard with a vessel building. This photograph may have been taken in 1904.
