Botany girls under tree
Image of young women eating under a tree in New Dorp, New York. Visible in image: Nine women, two older (chaperones? teachers?) and seven younger sit under a small tree. All but two are eating what appear to be apples. The women wear hats decorated with ribbons and feathers, skirts, and jacket-styled blouses. The reclining woman at right center is wearing a jacket with large buttons in a style reminiscent of military dress. The two-handed style of apple eating is of interest. Caption on negative sleeve/reverse of print: "14 - Botany Girls [sic] under tree - New Dorp - Instan[t, exposure] - May 13, 91" on sleeve in pencil.
