The photo, taken from the water or a nearby shore, shows what appears to be a general store for boaters and others using Square Pond recreationally. "Bob's Trading Post" stands close to the water, and apparently offers some marine services--a handful of people are seen tending boats at the pier or milling around near the beach. Signs facing the water advertise gas and oil (presumably for motorboats) and Coca Cola. A few benches sit at the top of the beach for the ease of customers. Square Pond lies roughly 30 miles north of Kittery near the western Maine border. The shallow pond covers 877 acres and feeds into Mousam lake to the south. Numerous cabins and cottages cluster along its 10.8 mile shoreline; it's a popular vacation and fishing spot.
