Agriculture Engineering Building, University of Maine, Orono, Maine B2
Image of the Agriculture Engineering Building, a low-spreading one-story brick building with a hip roof on a flat site. The structure combines industrial architecture with academic grace, enhanced by the vines allowed to climb up ts brick walls. Behind, the gable roof and metal cupola vent of another farm building are visible. Agriculture Engineering reflects the post WWII trend toward industrializing and large-scale farming, and would have been recently added to the University's program in the late 1940s. The Agricultural Engineering building is now called Norman Smith Hall which now houses the Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions (2021):
