Bank of Gowanda, Gowanda, N.Y. 38.
An imposing bank building occupies a prominent corner of an unpaved intersection in a downtown. Its entrance opens onto the corner and broad corner steps offering access to the street. Several motorcars are parked along the curb just off the newly finished cement sidewalks. The Martin Hotel, marked by a sign, occupies space in the side of the building. This image is part of a series made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street. The bank building and adjacent Gowanda Village are listed on The National Register of Historic Places.
