View of Sheridan, ME. 12X

View of a dirt main street, with shops and storefronts in the ground floors of mid-19th and early-20th century frame buildings. The one on the left has a large second story porch overlooking the street, probably part of the proprietor's residence. A man stands in the entraceway of that structure, identified as C.G. Richards, probably Richards himself, ready to help motorists pump gas at one of the two pumps at the curb. The shop bears the signs: "Federal Tires" and "United State Tires & Tubes", suggesting this is an early automobile service station. Further on down the street, three almost identical early motor cars are parked in front of houses that appear to have been converted to retail use. One of those cars may be the Eastern photographer's.
