Crosby High School, Church Street, Belfast, Maine Named after William G. Crosby, the governor of Maine who served in 1853 & 1854, the building was built in 1923 at a cost of $185,000 and dedicated in 1924. The project was fully funded with contributions from the community, the City, and Crosby's wealthy granddaughter Anne Crosby Johnson. It functioned as the Crosby High School until 1965 when a new high school had been constructed and continued as a middle school before closing altogether. The school is located on Church Street between Miller and Spring Streets. It occupies the lot which was previously the location of the Upper Grammar School and the old high school.
