S S SANKATY moored along side the bark CHARLES W. MORGAN September 15, 1924 partially submerged. SANKATY caught fire from a dock building at New Bedford, MA on July 15, 1924 and drifted across to Fairhaven Harbor. She was raised and repaired to steam under her own power to Rockland, Maine. She was rebuilt as an automobile ferry for the Connecticut & Long Island N.Y. Service.
