Morse Bridge- Kenduskeag Stream- Valley Avenue, Bangor- Const 1872 A102
This covered bridge photo was taken in 1948. The Morse Bridge, one of Bangor's many covered bridges, was built in 1882 and spanned the Kenduskeag off Valley Avenue near Morse's Mill. For a time the bridge was called "The Bridge of Sighs", because of the sounds made by the herds of sheep crossing it on their way to slaughterhouse. Many said it was as if the sheep sensed their fate.
