This image is part of a series made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to cover New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street. The freshly painted interior, washed by daylight from multiple windows, reflects an old fashioned store layout, with product shelving behind large glass display cases beneath a counter. Cigars in open boxes are displayed in the glass cases.Toward the end of the counter are some large steel hot beverage urns and other appliances for making cold drinks.
