Where Daniel Webster Recored Deeds, Fryeburg, ME 113.
This tiny, ancient brick building identified by a sign as "Registry of Deeds" was apparently used by prominent American attorney Daniel Webster as a law office while he lived in Maine. Webster was one of the first Heads of School at Fryeburg Academy, the oldest private school in the U.S. He was a representative to Congress from New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and served as Secretary of State under Presidents Harrison, Tyler, and Filmore.
