Rumford Point is a village in Rumford, Maine, across the Androscoggin River from another village, Rumford Corner. The large homes tucked in among the elms lining this shady, tranquil road were no doubt farmhouses less than a century earlier. The quiet village contrasted markedly with the nearby economic hub of Rumford; the river (known colloquially as the "Scrog") historically powered saw- and gristmills there, and since the late 19th century has also powered paper mills.
