View of the Bergman Sweden House in East Wilton, including an American Elm tree in the front yard. It is a summer day, and the scene shows customers sitting at umbrella-shaded tables in the front yard. In 1953 Vera Bergman and her Swedish-American husband Arthur purchased the farm on Route 4 and converted the property to a tourist house with a restaurant and a Scandinavian gift shop. The shop was apparently in the renovated barn. The couple operated the business for about 50 years. Tastefully designed signs on the building advertise: "Rare Gifts, Fine Foods, Nice Rooms".
