North Anson, Maine Prior to 1900 J94C
This early photo of the village of North Anson, Maine (situated along the Carrabassett River near its confluence with the Kennebec River) was probably taken on Main Street (now Maine State Route 201). This is a busy downtown scene showing several storefronts, including the post office, a launderer, a harness shop, and a few businesses of unknown nature. A number of horses with buggies stand waiting for their owners along the street, and a group of well-attired people crowds the wooden sidewalk in front of the post office.
