Elm Street, North Anson, Maine A173

Maine State Route 16 in North Anson, Maine, known locally as New Portland Road, was formerly called Elm Street (which at this time was still unpaved). North Anson is a village in Anson, Maine situated along the Carrabassett River near its confluence with the Kennebec River. This downtown location was home to the New Royal Cafe (at left on the block seen on the right hand side of the frame) and the Red & White food market (to the right). Nearby, at the left of frame, sits the post office and the Carrabasset Power Company office. The single figure in the scene—a man wearing work clothes and a Panama hat—may be walking to the dual rear-wheel truck parked in the center background whose bed is filled with logs.
