N.Y. Central Station, Farnham, N.Y. 65

Image of a passenger rail station and two sets of tracks. Across the street behind is a residential neighbohood. Two men stand -- probably at the behest of the photographer - near the corner of the building and look out at the camera across the tracks. One wears a suit, the other a trainman's uniform. A sign above them reads: "American Railway Express". A Telegraph sign hangs off the station agent's bay, a telegraph pole stands at the right. Farnham, on Lake Erie, was a New York Central stop between Buffalo and Cleveland. This image is part of a series made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street.
