Bank at Conewango Valley, N.Y. 36

Image of a small brick commercial building with cut stone steps leading down to the street. Twin trees frame the structure on either side. The Conewango Valley National Bank, as identified in its entrance arch, stands alone on a grassy piece of land where the sidewalk ends, indicating a location near the edge of town. A set of cut stone steps connects the pleasingly proportioned little building to pedestrian and automobile access. This is part of a series of images made by one of the three Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company photographers assigned to New England or upstate New York. The glass plates would be sent back to Belfast, Maine, and processed into postcards at the printing plant on High Street.
