Image of the Marshall House in York Harbor, Maine, with small fishing boats and other small craft lying in calm water in the foreground. The original Marshall House, built in 1871 at the beginning of the Maine coast's life as a summer resort destination, burned in 1916. The hotel was rebuilt in the much enlarged brick structure seen here the following year. This building was the largest hotel in the area until its demise in the early 1970s. The Stage Neck Inn now occupies the site overlooking York Harbor.
