Color transparency. c. 1960, of Colonial Gables Motel and Housekeeping Cottages on Route 1 in Belfast, ME. This aerial view was taken over Penobscot Bay and shows the water, the beach, buildings that are spread over the property on both sides of Route 1, adjacent properties, and the forest and hills beyond. Small cabins look out at the bay or lawn, and a one-story motel faces Route 1. Across the highway are several additional cabins. According to a business card from the period, Colonial Gables offered private baths, kitchenettes, swimming and fishing. Proprietors were Mr. and Mrs. L. Perry.
