H A J Sailing Race, Camden, Maine 3961
"H A J Sailing Race, Camden, Maine 3961" The HAJ class sloop yachts were imported from Finnland for the Camden Yacht Club in 1933. Twenty-five in all, they were called Finnboats in Camden and they were built at an attractive price in Finland during the Great Depression; at $622, no American builder could match them. Finnboats were actively raced off Camden with the fleet gradually shrinking to 14 by the mid-1950s, and four in the late 1980s. See Maine Boats Homes and Harbors, April/ May 2012, Penn Brown, " The Annals of the Finnboat.
